Markets in Guatemala

When we think "market" in Guatemala, anyone who has heard of this country, will immediately make the link to Chichicastenango, mostly know as "Chichi market." But without resting importance to that well known market, we invite you to go out the trail, by visiting an authentic market that serves more specifically the purpose of his local inhabitants.

The charm surrounding any market is mostly on the colorful display of produces, fruits and textiles; also the nonchalant buyers looking for any goods to bring back home and the vendors insisting on the quality he/she offers and lowing down slightly the price.

Local Markets are the main economic focus of the towns in the highlands of Guatemala. In the Natives villages and towns they are also a social and cultural event second only to the local fiesta day or holiday. Market days draw people from all around the vicinity. It's a social event where you see distant neighbors and you take the time to go over the latest news and gossip.

Mayalandia Tours will offer you as an option during your sojourn to visit one of the markets that will integrate your tailor-made itinerary or will design your itinerary following your growing interest on specific markets.

In continuation we provide you the market days. Most village markets are not open daily. The different towns have different days of the week to trade and shop.
